Richland was transformed in a short period of time, from a small agricultural town to a bustling government city. Once Richland was selected to become the site for the Manhattan project's workers as they developed nuclear material on the Hanford Reserve there was an unbelievable amount of work that had to be done in a very short time. Very little remains of the buildings that once stood along the river, most of them were replaced with the iconic Alphabet Houses.
