This month we get to explore several sites throughout the town of Bucoda. Originally named Seatco, which means "devil" or "ghost place." In the late 1800s Seatco, now Bucoda, was the site of Washington Territory's first penitentiary. While in 1890, the name was officially changed to Bucoda, (from the first two letters of the last names of J.M. Buckley, a railroad executive, Sam Coulter, a local businessman, and J.B. David, a Portland investor) the stories and perhaps some of the spirits remain. Flashlights required For an additional $6.00 you can rent an EMF detection device. Once the lights go out and everyone leaves the 1930s gymnasium that Bucoda uses for its haunted house, you and a few others get to enter and attempt to commune with the entity that dwells inside. From physical forces to orbs there has been a number of recorded incidents in the gym that only intensify as midnight draws near. You'll get to meet Abby, the electronic doll that chooses who she talks to and get to hunt in the dark for the ghosts that refuse to leave this town.
