AN EVENING WITH THE BLACKWELLS $30
Join us for an unforgettable night. 'An Evening with the Blackwells' is an hour-long historic tour through the iconic Blackwell Mansion. Built in 1890 this exquisite mansion was the home to Mr. William Blackwell and his wife Alice, the first two people to arrive in Tacoma by train. It was renovated in the 1970s and served for a time as the YWCA in Tacoma.
Today we can wander the hallways and unwind the stories of the Blackwell family and the legacy that echoes through the halls. As you ascend the white oak stairway and peer out at Commencement Bay through the original windows, your guide will escort you through the tales of the Blackwell family as they built Tacoma's first hotel before they went on to manage the Grand Tacoma Hotel. As you explore from the basement to the beautifully refurbished attic you will see where Alice Blackwell hosted the most famous writers and explorers of their time, including Mark Twain. This exclusive tour will give you the best history of the area as only Pretty Gritty Tours can. Join us and see if you can catch a glimpse of the Blackwells wandering the hallways like they once did over a hundred years ago. Don't miss out. BOOK NOW!
